SoHo, is a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan, New York City, which in recent history came to the public's attention for being the location of many artists' lofts and art galleries, but is now better known for its variety of shops ranging from trendy upscale boutiques to national and international chain store outlets. SoHo is bounded by Houston Street on the northern side, Canal Street on the south, and Crosby Street on the east, and Sixth Avenue to the west. This most diverse neighborhood in lower Manhattan has had a long history before becoming the heart and soul of New York City.  Artists such as Phillip Glass, Twyla Tharp, Nam June Paik, Meredith Monk, Chuck Close, Frank Stella, plus many others helped create the ideal situation to make SoHo the Nexus of creative activity for a very magical time in the 1960's. SoHo came to represent the hip, Avant-garde scene.

Pegu Club - Pay a visit to the urbane barroom, a second floor sanctum on bustling Houston Street, and explore Saunders’ eminent opus.

Visit the oldest cathedral in the city, which happens to be located in one of the most historic areas. The St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral, where the infamous baptism scenes in The Godfather were shot, is located in the heart of Soho.

Dominique Ansel Bakery – The bakery café is French inspired with a modern twist on their treats. Their cronuts and cookie shots are among the most famous desserts for which people wait on line for hours. Definitely get here early to avoid the wait.

Cineastes from all over will appreciate the curatorial mastery and outright devotion to the art evident at Film Forum. The only not-for-profit movie house in the City, and the closest thing America has to Paris' Cinémathèque Française, Film Forum programming features a repertory series of classics, genre works or a retrospective of a seminal director, in addition to a handpicked showcase of new releases.

Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art, 0.5 miles - Founded by Charles Leslie and his late partner, Fritz Lohman, this art gallery is dedicated to showcasing work by LGBT artists. Check for frequent openings, exhibitions and other special events, such as drawing workshops, studio tours and book launch parties.
